How to use the Days Between Dates
- Pick the start and end dates.
- Choose whether to include the end date and whether Saturday is a working day.
- Read the total days, years-months-days, weeks and working days.
About this tool
By default the count works like most date calculators and Excel’s =B1-A1: from 1 January to 31 December 2026 is 364 days. Tick “Include the end date” when both the first and last day count — for example for leave applications, hotel nights vs. days, or “how many days is my trip” — which gives 365.
Weekdays are Monday to Friday. Working days use the same count, or Monday to Saturday if you tick the 6-day-week option (common in Indian offices, banks and schools). Gazetted and state holidays aren’t subtracted because they differ by state and employer — subtract them yourself.
Frequently asked questions
How many days are there between 1 January and 31 December 2026?
364 days if you don’t count the end date, or 365 if you include both days.
How do I count working days for a notice period?
Enter the first and last day, tick “Include the end date”, and read “Working days”. Subtract any public holidays your employer observes.
Does it handle leap years?
Yes. Dates are counted on the real calendar, so 29 February is included in leap years.
Why is the months-and-days answer different from total days ÷ 30?
Months have 28 to 31 days, so the tool counts real calendar months first and then the remaining days.
