How to use the PDF Metadata Editor
- Choose your PDF — its current properties appear.
- Edit the title, author, subject or keywords.
- Click “Save changes” (or “Remove all metadata”) and download.
About this tool
Every PDF carries hidden “document properties”: a title shown in browser tabs and search results, the author’s name (often your Windows user name), and the software used to make it. Before sending a CV, a client proposal or a report, check that these don’t reveal an old title, a colleague’s name or “Untitled document”.
Edit the fields and save, or click “Remove all metadata” to wipe the information dictionary and the XMP metadata block. Page content is not touched.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the PDF title matter?
Browsers show it in the tab, and search engines can show it as the result title for PDFs on your website.
Does removing metadata change the document?
No. Only the hidden properties are removed; the pages look exactly the same.
What is XMP metadata?
A second, XML-based copy of the properties used by apps like Adobe Acrobat. Removing it avoids old values showing up after you edit.
