How to use the Scientific Calculator
- Type an expression or tap the buttons.
- Switch between DEG and RAD for trigonometry.
- Press = or Enter; tap a history entry to reuse it.
About this tool
Type expressions naturally — 2(3+4), 5!, 2^0.5, sin 30, ncr(10,3) — or use the buttons. Powers are evaluated before multiplication and are right-associative (2^3^2 = 2^9), and −2^2 = −4, matching the conventions of scientific calculators and maths textbooks. Press Enter to calculate and Esc to clear.
Trigonometric functions use degrees by default (sin 30 = 0.5); switch to RAD for radians. log is base 10 and ln is the natural log. The calculator uses its own parser rather than running your input as code, and shows results to 12 significant digits, so tiny floating-point errors like 0.1 + 0.2 = 0.30000000000000004 are rounded away.
Frequently asked questions
Does sin use degrees or radians?
Degrees by default, as in school maths. Click DEG to switch to RAD.
How do I calculate a square root or cube root?
Use √ or type sqrt(81). For cube roots type cbrt(27), or use powers: 27^(1/3).
What do nPr and nCr do?
Permutations and combinations: type npr(5,2) = 20 or ncr(5,2) = 10.
Why does tan(90) show an error?
tan 90° is undefined (it goes to infinity), so the calculator reports it instead of a huge wrong number.
