About this tool

Colleges, courts and offices often ask for numbered pages in project reports, theses, affidavits and tender documents. Choose the position, a format such as “Page 3 of 20”, the starting number and the size, and the numbers are added to every page in a clean Helvetica font.

Tick “Don’t number the first page” to leave a cover page blank — numbering then begins on page 2 with your start number. Rotated and landscape pages are handled automatically, so numbers always appear upright.

Frequently asked questions

How do I start numbering from 3?

Type 3 in “Start at number”. Combine with “Don’t number the first page” to skip a cover.

Can I put page numbers at the top?

Yes — choose top left, top centre or top right.

Will this cover existing text?

Numbers sit in the margin you set (10 mm by default). Increase or decrease the distance if they overlap something.
