Resize Signature to 10–20 KB for Exam Forms (Free)

· ZapToolbox guides

To resize a signature to 10–20 KB, sign in black ink on plain white paper, take a clear photo of it, then open our Exam Photo & Signature Resizer. Choose the signature preset (or "Custom size"), zoom so the signature fills the box, and tap "Make JPG". The tool sets the exact pixel size and keeps the file inside the KB range, then shows a green tick when it matches.

This guide covers the full process, what to do when your form asks for a different size, and how to fix the two problems people hit most: a file that is too small and a signature that looks faint.

Why exam forms want a signature between 10 KB and 20 KB

Online application forms store lakhs of signatures, so they ask for a small file. Many bank exam forms, including recent IBPS and SBI notifications, ask for a signature of 140 × 60 pixels between 10 KB and 20 KB. Other exams use their own numbers. For example, you may see limits like "signature size should be between 10 KB and 20 KB", "under 20 KB" or a size given in centimetres. There is no single national rule, so the notification for your exam is always the final word.

Step 1: Sign on paper the right way

Step 2: Photograph or scan the signature

  1. Place the paper on a flat table near a window or under a bright light.
  2. Hold your phone straight above the paper, not at an angle, so the signature doesn't look slanted.
  3. Make sure your hand or phone doesn't cast a shadow on the paper.
  4. Tap on the signature on the screen to focus, then take the photo.

A scanner also works well. Either way, you only need one clear image.

Step 3: Resize the signature to 10–20 KB

  1. Open the Exam Photo & Signature Resizer and choose your signature photo.
  2. In "Requirement", pick IBPS / SBI — Signature 140 × 60 px, 10–20 KB, or pick Custom size and type the width, height, minimum KB and maximum KB from your notice.
  3. Leave "Fit" on "Fill the frame". Drag the image and use the zoom slider until the signature fills most of the box with a small white margin.
  4. Tap Make JPG. Check the result line: it shows the pixel size and the KB, with a green tick if both match.
  5. Download the file and upload it in the signature box of the form.

The resizing happens on your own phone or computer. Your signature is not uploaded to our server, which matters for something as personal as a signature.

Signature resize for different exams

Search results show people looking for signature resizers for SSC, UPSC, RRB, PAN card and many state exams. The method is the same for all of them: read the notification, then type its numbers into "Custom size". A quick reference:

If the notice saysWhat to enter
140 × 60 px, 10–20 KBUse the IBPS / SBI signature preset
A size in pixels and a KB rangeCustom size: width, height, min KB, max KB
Only a KB limit, such as "below 20 KB"Custom size: keep a sensible shape (for example 300 × 100 px), min 1, max 19
A size in cm, such as 3.5 × 1.5 cmConvert to pixels using the DPI the notice gives (see below)

Converting cm to pixels: pixels = cm ÷ 2.54 × DPI. At 200 DPI, 1 cm is about 79 pixels. At 300 DPI, 1 cm is about 118 pixels. If the notice gives centimetres but no DPI, ask the helpdesk or check the FAQ section of the exam website rather than guessing.

My signature file is too small (below 10 KB)

This is the most common problem. A black signature on clean white paper is a very simple image, so even at the highest JPG quality it can come out well below 10 KB. The form then says "file size must be at least 10 KB".

Our resizer handles this for you. If the image can't reach the minimum at top quality, it adds harmless padding data inside the JPG file so the size reaches the minimum. The signature you see does not change at all. You don't need to add noise, change colours or enlarge the image.

My signature looks faint or blurry

Can I draw a signature on my phone instead?

You can draw a signature with your finger in our Signature Maker and download it as a PNG. That is handy for signing PDFs, letters and invoices. For exam forms, though, most notices ask for a signature done with a pen on white paper, and your signature on later documents should match it. So for exam applications, sign on paper and photograph it. If you'd like to understand transparent signature images for documents, read our guide on making a transparent signature PNG.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize a signature to 20 KB online?

Open the resizer, choose your signature photo, pick a preset or Custom size with a maximum of 20 KB, frame it and tap "Make JPG". The result stays under 20 KB.

What is the signature size for IBPS?

Recent IBPS notifications ask for 140 × 60 pixels (preferred) between 10 KB and 20 KB. Check the notification for your exam cycle.

Why does the form say my signature is too small?

The form has a minimum, often 10 KB. Use the resizer with the correct minimum filled in; it pads the file to reach it without changing the image.

Can I use a typed signature for an exam form?

Usually not. Exam notices normally ask for your own handwritten signature in black ink on white paper.
