EPF Calculator — Provident Fund at Retirement

See how your PF balance can grow until retirement with your and your employer’s monthly contributions.

How to use the EPF Calculator

  1. Enter your monthly basic + DA, current age and retirement age.
  2. Add your current EPF balance and expected yearly salary increase.
  3. Check the interest rate and read your estimated EPF corpus.

About this tool

Every month you contribute 12% of basic + DA to EPF. Your employer also pays 12%, but 8.33% of it (on wages up to ₹15,000, so at most ₹1,250) goes to the Employees’ Pension Scheme; the remaining 3.67% goes into your EPF. For basic pay above ₹15,000 the employer’s EPF share is actually 12% of basic minus ₹1,250 — pick that option to use it.

EPFO calculates interest on the monthly running balance (rate ÷ 12 each month) and credits it once a year, which is what this calculator does, raising your salary each year by the percentage you enter. The EPF rate is declared every year — 8.25% was declared for FY 2023-24 and FY 2024-25 — so change it if a new rate is announced. EPF interest is tax-free while the account is active, except on employee contributions above ₹2.5 lakh a year.

Frequently asked questions

You contribute 12% of basic + DA. Your employer contributes 3.67% to EPF and 8.33% (up to ₹1,250 a month) to the pension scheme.

What is the current EPF interest rate?

8.25% was declared for FY 2023-24 and FY 2024-25. The rate is announced every year by EPFO, so check for the latest.
