About this tool
Inflation means prices rise over time, so the same rupee buys less. The future cost of something is today’s cost × (1 + inflation)years, and the value in today’s money of an amount you will get in future is future amount ÷ (1 + inflation)years. At 6% inflation, what costs ₹1,00,000 today will cost about ₹1,79,085 in 10 years.
India’s consumer price (CPI) inflation has mostly been between about 2% and 7% a year in recent years, while costs like education and healthcare often rise faster. 6% is a common long-term planning assumption, but you can change it. Use this calculator to set realistic savings goals — your investments need to beat inflation to grow your real wealth.
