  3. Read your total, percentage and best-of-five score.

About this tool

Overall percentage = total marks obtained ÷ total maximum marks × 100. When subjects have different maximum marks (for example 80 theory + 20 practical, or a 50-mark subject), add them up first rather than averaging the subject percentages — this tool does it correctly.

Many admissions in India use the “best of five” subjects; tick the option to see it. The grade shown follows CBSE’s nine-point bands for a quick reference only — your board’s official grading may be relative or use different cut-offs.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my percentage of marks?

Add all marks obtained, divide by the total maximum marks and multiply by 100. For 424 out of 500 that’s 84.8%.

What if subjects are out of different totals?

Enter each subject’s own maximum marks; the tool adds everything up correctly instead of averaging percentages.

What is best of five?

The percentage of your five highest-scoring subjects, used by many colleges for admission. Check whether your college requires a specific subject (like English) to be included.
