About compressing to this size
Many recruitment and exam portals ask for a passport-style photo between about 20 KB and 50 KB. A face photo around 300×400 pixels usually fits under 20 KB as a JPG with the face still clear.
How it gets to exactly 20 KB: the tool tries different JPEG quality levels and keeps the highest one whose file is still under 20 KB, so the result usually lands just below the limit (for example 18–20 KB). Only if quality alone can’t get small enough does it shrink the image dimensions, a little at a time.
Tip: If the form also gives pixel dimensions, resize to those first with the Image Resizer, then compress to 20 KB.

Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce a photo to 20 KB?
Drop the photo into the box above. The target is already 20 KB; download the result when it appears. It will be 20 KB or slightly less.
Will my photo look blurry at 20 KB?
The tool always keeps the best quality that fits. Faces and documents stay clear at common form sizes; very large photos may be scaled down slightly to fit.
Why is my file a little smaller than 20 KB?
Portals reject files even 1 byte over the limit, so the tool stays safely under 20 KB instead of going over.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The compression runs entirely in your browser, so your photos never leave your phone or computer.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes — open this page on your phone, tap the box, pick a photo from your gallery and download the result.
