Fuel prices differ by city and change often — enter today’s price at your pump.

How to use the Fuel Cost Calculator

  1. Enter the one-way distance and tick round trip if you are coming back.
  2. Enter your vehicle’s mileage and the current fuel price.
  3. Add tolls and other costs, and the number of people sharing.

About this tool

Fuel needed (litres) = distance ÷ mileage, fuel cost = litres × price per litre, and the trip cost adds tolls, parking and other expenses; split it by the number of people to get each person’s share. For a 350 km trip each way (700 km round trip) at 15 km/l and ₹100 a litre, you need about 46.67 litres costing ₹4,666.67; with ₹500 of tolls, four friends pay ₹1,291.67 each.

Use your vehicle’s real-world mileage rather than the brochure figure — highway driving is usually more efficient than city traffic, while AC, heavy luggage and high speeds reduce mileage. For CNG, enter km per kg and price per kg; for an electric vehicle, use km per kWh and the price per unit of electricity.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate petrol cost for a trip?

Divide the distance by your mileage to get litres, then multiply by the price per litre. 700 km ÷ 15 km/l × ₹100 = ₹4,666.67.

Can I use this for CNG or electric cars?

Yes. Enter km per kg and price per kg for CNG, or km per kWh and price per kWh for an EV.

Why is my actual fuel cost higher?

Traffic, AC use, idling, load and speed all reduce real mileage. Adding 10% as a buffer is a good idea.
